Privacy Policy

What we collect

ClearShot collects the minimum data necessary to deliver the service:

• Email address (used for authentication and communications)
• Job listing content you submit for grading (employer-posted data, not your personal information)
• Grade history and interaction data (which listings you graded, applied to, or skipped)
• Application friction data (anonymized signals about application processes)
• Subscription and billing status (processed by Stripe — we never store payment details)

We do not collect your name, resume, employment history, social profiles, or salary information.

Accounts and authentication

ClearShot offers optional account creation via Google (Gmail) OAuth login. If you sign in, we store your email address and a user ID to associate your grade history with your account. You may use ClearShot without creating an account — anonymous grades are stored without any identifying information.

Paid subscriptions

ClearShot offers paid tiers (Basic at $4/month, Pro at $12/month). Payment is processed by Stripe. ClearShot does not store your payment card information — all payment data is handled directly by Stripe and subject to their privacy policy.

What we do not collect

• Passwords or authentication credentials (login is handled entirely by Google OAuth)
• Payment card numbers or banking information
• Browsing history outside of job listing pages

How we use data

• To generate and return your grade result
• To associate grades with your account if you are logged in
• To improve grading accuracy over time by identifying patterns in how listings are written
• To build aggregate intelligence about job market trends — salary transparency rates, scam signal frequency, and posting quality by platform
• To surface job listings that match your profile through our Opportunity Feed, powered by third-party job search data
• To build a proprietary dataset of graded job listings to improve market intelligence over time

We do not sell data to third parties. We do not use submission data for advertising or profiling.

Anonymized, aggregate behavioral data (such as skip rates, grade distributions, and friction patterns) is used to improve ClearShot's grading engine and platform intelligence. This data is never tied to your identity when used for platform improvement.

Data retention

Grade records submitted by users are stored for 90 days. System-generated grades from the Opportunity Feed are stored indefinitely as aggregate market data — no personal information is attached to these records. Account data is retained until you request deletion. To request deletion of your account and associated data, contact us at privacy@tryclearshot.com.

Chrome extension

The ClearShot Chrome extension operates on supported job board pages only (currently LinkedIn, Indeed, and Glassdoor). It does not access your general browsing history, other tabs, or any pages outside of job listing URLs.

The extension uses the following browser permissions:

• activeTab — to read the job description text from the current job listing page you are viewing
• storage — to cache your license key, recent grades, and account session data locally to connect your extension grades to your ClearShot account

Job description text extracted by the extension is sent to the ClearShot grading API. The same data collection described above applies. No data is collected when you are browsing pages outside of supported job boards. The extension also accesses tryclearshot.com solely to read your login session and connect extension grades to your account — no other data is read from that page.

Third-party services

ClearShot uses the following third-party services to operate the platform:

• Supabase — database and authentication
• Anthropic — AI-powered grading engine
• Stripe — payment processing
• Resend — transactional email
• Vercel — hosting and infrastructure

Each processor is bound by their own privacy and security policies.

Data deletion

You have the right to request deletion of your account and associated data. To submit a deletion request, email hello@tryclearshot.com with the subject line 'Data Deletion Request.' We will process your request within 30 days.
